“LODGE  NIGHT  1759”

 

A costumed band of players portraying a composite picture of Masonic practice in the mid 1850’s – This demonstration is by the oldest team in existence having been performing continuously since 1956 – In that time nearly 400 performances have been given and the Team in so doing have assisted lodges to raise monies for their charities in excess of £112,000 – A truly memorable Masonic event  – for instruction – improvement – knowledge – entertainment – The very best !!

 

ARRANGEMENTS FOR TEAM TO GIVE DEMONSTRATION

& INFORMATION FOR HOST LODGES

 

  • THE DEMONSTRATION TAKES 2 HOURS [INCLUDING A SHORT INTRODUCTORY TALK] THEREFORE THE LATEST A LODGE SHOULD CONVENE WILL BE 16.30 GIVEN IT WILL HAVE SOME ADMINISTRATIVE WORK TO UNDERTAKE WITHIN THE MEETING
  • THE DEMONSTRATION CAN ONLY BE PERFORMED IN ‘CALL-OFF’ WHICH SHOULD BE ABOUT MID-WAY THROUGH THE AGENDA
  • NO OTHER CEREMONY MUST TAKE PLACE WHEN A DEMONSTRATION FORMS THE BODY OF THE MEETING
  • THE TEAMS ‘PROPS’ WILL BE SET UP PRIOR TO THE MEETING AND ANY PERAMBULATIONS WILL NEED TO PASS AROUND THEM
  • NO-ONE BELOW THE RANK OF MASTER MASON SHOULD BE PRESENT FOR THE DEMONSTRATION
  • ONE OF THE AIMS OF THE DEMONSTRATION IS TO HELP HOST LODGES RAISE MONEY FOR CHARITIES – THE TEAM WOULD WISH TO NOMINATE SUCH CHARITIES
  • TO AVOID CLASHING WITH PROVINCIAL/LONDON EVENTS YOU SHOULD SEEK ADVICE FROM THE RESPECTIVE OFFICE - ALSO IF YOU WISH THEM TO SEND A REPRESENTATIVE OR DELEGATION
  • A SOUVENIR BOOKLET IS AVAILABLE ON A PRE-ORDERED BASIS WHICH WILL BE GIVEN [AT THE FESTIVE BOARD] TO EACH BROTHER AS A MEMENTO OF THE OCCASION
  • THE ENTERTAINMENT OVERFLOWS TO THE FESTIVE BOARD SO ARRANGEMENTS ARE NEEDED TO:
    1. TAKE WINE WITH THE TEAM
    2. GIVE A SHORT ‘TOAST’ TO THE TEAM
  • GIVEN THE DISTANCE THE TEAM HAS TO TRAVEL THEY NEED TO LEAVE EARLY - TO FACILITATE THIS THEIR TOAST [AND THANKS] SHOULD FOLLOW IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE MASTERS TOAST POSSIBLY PUNCTUATED BY THE DRAWING OF THE RAFFLE [IF THERE IS ONE] TO ALLOW A DEFINITIVE BREAK
  • ACCOUTREMENTS NEEDED:
    1. TWO TRESTLE TYPE TABLES [APPx  6x2]
    2. ONE SMALL TABLE [APPx  2x2]
    3. 12 OLDER STYLE CHAIRS
    4. USE OF A ROOM TO CHANGE [FOR 10] WITH MIRROR
  • THE COSTS:
    1. TRAVELLING EXPENSES INC. CONSUMABLES  £130 [2006]
    2. PRE-ORDERED SOUVENIR BOOKS [EACH]  £2 [2006]
    3. DINING FOR THE TEAM OF 10 MEMBERS
  • A FINAL CONTACT WILL BE MADE BY LETTER ABOUT 6 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE EVENT AT WHICH TIME THE TEAM MUST RECEIVE COPIES OF THE SUMMONS [10] AND A MAP OF THE LOCATION OF THE VENUE
  • SHOULD THE VENUE HAVE PARKING FACILITIES THREE PLACES SHOULD BE RESERVED FOR THE TEAMS VEHICLE AS NEAR TO THE ENTRANCE [FOR UNLOADING] AS POSSIBLE
  • EXPERIENCE HAS SHOWN THAT ATTENTION TO DETAIL PAYS DIVIDENDS AND MAKES FOR A SUCCESSFUL EVENT
