Provincial Officers' Mess

PGM's Address at the Autumn 2006

APGM WBro Stuart Robbens, when introducing our PGM, RWBro Jonathan Winpenny, at the Provincial Officers' Mess spoke of the achievements already in place after one year in Office.  He reminded us that our PGM had consulted, considered and then acted.  WBro Robbens went on to say that we were proud of our Province and Provincial Grand Master, and thanked him for taking up the leadership of our Province in this 21st Century.

The Provincial Grand Master, in reply and after receiving donations towards the Benevolent Fund from the Provincial Charity Steward and the Bowls Association, confirmed there were to be changes to the Provincial Executive.  He announced the retirement from office of several senior members of the Executive and paid fulsome praise for their individual efforts.  (details?  needed here?)

His main message, however, to the Provincial Grand Officers present was the great importance he lays upon the Brethren of the Province taking up the very considerable opportunities soon to be placed before them in 'The Way Forward' programme of professionally prepared workshops and seminars.  He was frank in saying that he would be most disappointed if the Officers in Lodges and Chapters were not to attend during which 'best practice' in the different offices would be exemplified.  His message to those 'who know it all' was to come and contribute those many 'wrinkles' that experience brings.  There is no excuse to miss these important events!

The PGM also laid great stress on mentoring and drew specific attention to the series of talks to be given by VWBro Graham Higgs entitled 'Free and of Mature Age - Beginning the Masonic Journey'.  These will be of immense interest and help to all Master Masons, as well as those interested in learning more about the Craft.  Yet another not to be missed event in the programme.

On the two recent 'mini Provincial Grand Lodge' meetings recently held in Eglatine Lode and St George's Wrotham Lodge, the PGM was deeply appreciative of all the hard work and preparation that had gone into them.  He was most pleased to be able to appoint many Brethren to first appointments as well as make promotions at these meetings.  This was a 'first'.

In wishing all the 300, or so, Brethren present a Happy Christmas and Happy and Prosperous New Year, the PGM closed the proceedings of the Provincial Officers' Mess to enthusiastic applause.
